Coastal Makeover
Seadel Residence

Bethany Beach, DE

Looking to upgrade the family's summer cottage to a permanent home to retire year round required the couple to consider a major remodel. The home was originally built on piles in the mid 1970's as a summer rental property. Short of a complete teardown, the existing beach cottage was stripped down to the framing and replaced in the style of a modern beach home. The new 2,200 sf renovation features a bright sundrenched open kitchen / living / dining plan spacious enough for entertaining and large family gatherings. The main living spaces are separated physically and acoustically from the sleeping and private spaces at the back of the house. A roof deck was added to allow sweeping ocean and sunrise views. This house includes many environmental features including a geothermal heating/cooling system.
