A two story farmhouse built in 1800 was in need of major interior and exterior updates and repairs throughout. Wanting to preserve the original scale and unique footprint of the house to the neighboring houses it was decided to renovate rather than demolish and replace the exisitng. This project encompassed a complete 1,400 sf renovation including a new kitchen, two full baths, a new family room, and a third floor addition.  Major changes to open interior spaces and bring in abundant daylight included replacing the low attic and roof with a large loft style master bedroom with cathedral ceiling. The existing rotting 'workshop' adjacent to the kitchen was replaced with a large lightfilled family room connecting it directly to newly landscaped 'outdoor rooms'. Energy conservation was enhanced through new mechanical & electrical systems, new roofs, new windows, and insulation. The exterior paint and repairs to the wood shingles added to the streetscape improvements.
